Patshala, is a unit of India Tribal Care (ITCT) Trust which is meant to cater education to poor tribal children specially in the area where there is very poor facilities for education.
This is one short of coaching center where village children gather two to three hours every day to take coaching from teacher. Each patshala has a teaher-student 1:20 ratio. These children go to schools and after school time they attend patshala to get coaching. Many places there are no schools also. In this case patshala is only place where they get education. We select one or two village teachers for each patshala to teach these students. They serve as voluntary service with minimum remuneration paid by ITCT.
We find very good result by this set up. Day by day tribal students are doing good with their respective studies. Along with normal school syllabus study students here are also taught about moral teachings and teachings about character building and spiritual teaching are also provided here.
ITCT has now about 100 patshalas and this year plans to develop more 100 hundred patshalas. Thus there will be about 200 patshalas providing quality education to about 5000 tribal students.
There are patshala supervisors over seeing each area patshalas by regularly visiting patshalas under their care. By monthly and yearly examinations are taken in each patshala.
Some places ITCT provides dresses, Umbrella, blankets to students. There are first aid kids for the students and village people also to take care of their immediate primary health care needs.
